San Miguel de Allende is named “Best City in Mexico and the World” by Condé Nast, during the 37th edition of the Reader’s Choice Awards.
San Miguel de Allende was crowned “The Best City in Mexico and the World” after the 37th edition of the Reader’s Choice Awards by the international publisher, Condé Nast, in which this recognition was confirmed as the number one city in Mexico and the third worldwide.
With more than 500 thousand total votes and as a result of the tourism strategy of the union of the guilds with their municipal authorities, San Miguel has appeared in the “Top 5” of this list that brings together the best of international tourism, where life experiences, tourist and artisan services, mobility and other offers are measured.
San Miguel de Allende once again led the national list, even though the Guanajuato destination does not have a beach; in addition, on a global level, San Miguel de Allende once again became the “spearhead” for the fifth consecutive time, this time being at the top of the 2024 list, along with San Sebastián in Spain and Victoria in Canada.
San Miguel de Allende surpassed established destinations such as Florence in Italy, Salzburg in Switzerland, Porto in Portugal, and the Mexican destination Puerto Vallarta.
“Four hours northwest of Mexico City lies the jewel of San Miguel de Allende, which has appeared on this list for five consecutive years. This mountainous city, a hub for expatriate artists, is known for its Spanish colonial architecture and colorful facades. You could spend hours exploring the galleries and pop-up shops,” the list mentions.
“San Miguel de Allende is a hidden oasis in the heart, for enjoying one of the best experiences,” Condé Nast published on its official website.
Condé Nast asked tourist readers from around the world about their stay preferences. There, San Miguel stood out in specific concepts such as unforgettable food, avant-garde design, and immersive experiences.
“When we added up the 575,048 votes cast in our 37th annual Reader’s Choice Awards poll, we were surprised by both their enthusiasm for embracing the new and their reverence for the timeless classics.”
Thus, San Miguel de Allende reaffirmed itself at the top of the tourist list in Mexico and the world, as its historic sites, local art, exclusive dishes, and variety of tourist attractions for all tastes were once again appreciated, making it stand out among all the small international cities.
